Q&A with owner Steve Angelo

You’ve been getting a lot of publicity on the Penthouse lately, any idea why?

Well, the home has been on and off the market over the past few months with a lot of interest. I believe the word started getting out that on occasion I short term lease my home when I am traveling or not using it. The Rocky Mountain News front page story the week prior to the NBA All-Star game highlighted the penthouse

and my willingness to rent it out. Along with the Alice 106 interview our phone lines just about melted. The town was sold out for the game. I ended up having multiple celebrity interest to rent the place for game week for huge amounts of money. It was pretty nuts!

Did you rent the penthouse for the NBA all-star game to a celebrity?

Sort of, after receiving a tone of calls and showing the unit to several people and agents for celebrities some of which money was not an object, I started to realize that with all the Bling and parties in town the chances were pretty good that when I got my place back it would be trashed. I ended up sharing the place with a group of NBA players that were in town. We kind of lived together for a few days. They all ended up being totally cool and quite respectful. With all the players and celebrities through the house on the weekend I felt like I was at the Grammy’s in addition to all the access privileges they provided for me to the hottest gatherings in town. The courtside seats to the game were a nice bonus too! I got to meet some pretty special people that week that surely will want to use this place next time they are in town. I think it ended up being a much more memorable experience than any amount of rent I could have gotten.

What Celebrities have visited the Penthouse?

I’ll have to plead the 5th to that question.

What type of people have you had interested in short term renting your penthouse?

Mostly professional athletes, corporate executives, movie industry types in town for a few days to a few weeks that require close to all location, security, privacy and some finer things in life. Basically the same type of people that would stay in the presidential suite at any one of the downtown hotels.

How much is the rent?

$1500 to $2500 a night. It all depends on what’s going on at the time.

Is the Penthouse for sale now?

Yes, Irwin Sadler with Prestige Realty Group is my listing agent and friend. It has been a wild ride living in the penthouse with all the interest and media. I am sure it will only get crazier as Riverfront Park continues to grow and become the pillar of downtown Luxury living. In the meantime Irwin and I are having a blast with all the calls. You never know what opportunities are at the other end of the phone when it rings anymore. Yes, I would entertain an offer to sell that made good economic sense. It would have to be a great one though, just because we’re having so much fun down here right now and I truly believe that the values for the Riverfront

Best Denver Penthouse

are only going to go through the roof as it continues to develop. It’s really hip down here.

What do you like best about your Penthouse?

The Views are killer and the design came out almost dreamy. The neighbors are all cool. The park, the river and 16th street mall are all right here. East West Partners development, sales and management team have been wonderful to work with and everyone own here has a great vibe. All are having a blast presently and looking forward to the future down her at the Riverfront. It is already Hip and Hopping, based on current development plans I can only imagine what the next few years will bring. It is really exciting! If I sold I would miss it a lot.

Name a few favorite places to hang Downtown?

Zengo being right down stairs is really cool and has a great ambiance. Sambuca for great jazz and to start/end your night on the town you got to love Josephina’s. Concerts, ballgames, and theatre all just a few blocks away, I try to get to as many as possible.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

40% Rocky Mountains, 60% white sand, palm trees and coconuts.
